Is Foursquare really worth $95 million?

Their new VC, Andreesen Horowitz, thinks so. What's puzzling is that their $20 million second round was predicated on management's commitment to "build [Foursquare] into a really significant, independent business." What am I missing here?

Foursquare Rage

I witnessed a similar scene earlier this week Knoxville. We waited while she checked in on Foursquare.

Maybe I'm just jealous because I'm not yet the Mayor of anywhere.

No proof yet that location-based services are actually going to improve our daily lives or how we communicate. Still, it's a new technology, so we'll slog our way through the rough spots until someone (please, not Google) figures out the killer app.

Until then, let's tolerate the gal at Remedy going for her third Foursquare check-in of the week. We'll control our budding rage, because maybe she'll figure out how it's actually useful. Kinda like Google Wave. (still waiting...)
